Opinions of Bold Venture Park at (Blackburn with Darwen)

Darwen has a number of parks each of which with their own special character. Bold Venture in turn has the remarkable World War memorial which commands a dominant spot in front of the lake. The lake itself is a peaceful place to sit and watch the ducks and swans. Walking through the park you can get a real sense of the old Edwardian character of the place. Uniquely for this Darwen park there is a wonderful sculpture trail that leads you through to the upper park and onto the Moors. It's a great start to the walk to the Jubilee (Darwen) Tower.

Lovely park! No car park but lots of parking available in the side streets nearby. Not suitable for prams or wheelchairs as there are a lot of steps and some pretty steep paths. Plenty of benches and bins. No toilets or refreshments but it is not far from Bolton Road where you would probably find a cafe or a pub. There is a children's play area and a large fenced off duck pond. We found a gap in the fence away from the birds but it was extremely muddy at the edge of the water. Luckily there is a stream running through the park and a few waterfalls so managed to wash the dogs off. The park is split in two with a quite busy road so dogs had to go on lead to cross. When you come out the other end you can walk up to Darwen Tower (we didn't have enough time) but it is a steep walk. Would make a lovely day out with a picnic and a walk up to the tower where the views are amazing. Lots of pokestops and gyms for those who play. Highly recommend a visit.

Really pretty park, something for everyone. There is a waterfall, ducks, all sorts of birds, a kids playground. An amazing collection of different trees that have been there for a very long time. If you are feeling energetic you can walk up to Darwen Tower and the Moors where the views are breathtaking.

Lovely little park, it's on the side of a hill though so a bit difficult for those with mobility problems. Some parts have steps. There is a play park at the bottom. The top half takes you on to a path up to Darwen Tower. Some lovely little waterfalls, get your phone/camera out!

Just beautiful. Starting in the formal gardens by the lake and finishing up on the Moor, it has everything and great for well behaved dogs on a lead.
